Business Support Administrator

Salary Grade: £12-15k - Starting salary is £12,500 to be reviewed after six months
Responsible to: Business Support Co-ordinator
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Fern House, Stroud, Gloucestershire

The impact of meningitis is lifelong and people, now and in the future, will continue to need the help and support of the Meningitis Trust throughout their lives. Our Vision is for everyone affected by meningitis to have access to support for life and for awareness levels of the disease to be such that lives are saved.

To achieve this, we recognise the importance of excellent administration support and customer care (internal and external). As part of the Business Support team, the BS Administrator’s role is critical in this.

Job Purpose

To provide comprehensive administrative support across the Trust and in particular to the Community and Fundraising Teams.

Relationships

Internally:
• Works closely with other members of the Business Support Team and the Finance Team
• Works closely with the Community and Fundraising teams
• Works closely with essential users of the Trust’s Raiser’s Edge database
• Liaises with other Trust departments

Externally:
• Liaises with participants, supporters, suppliers, sponsors and volunteers, etc

Duties and Responsibilities

Administration

• Provides administrative support for the Community and Fundraising teams, including typing, filing, sending out mailings, making and answering telephone calls/enquiries
• Assisting in the organisation and management of community and fundraising activities
• Fulfilling supporter/enquirer requests to a high level of customer care
• Responsible for associated written and verbal correspondence
• Maintains Raiser’s Edge database
• Ensures compliance with Trust policies and procedures in relation to fundraising administration

Data Management

• Maintains Raiser’s Edge database and ensures accuracy of all information input on to the system
• Ensures accurate records kept of all community and fundraising information

Other

• Attendance at specific events
• Assists with the content and updating of relevant sections of the Meningitis Trust website
• Provides cover on reception and despatch for holidays/sickness as required
• Undertake other work as required by Business Support Co-ordinator or Finance & Business Support Manager

Essential experience

• Experience in an administrative role
• Using a large customer database

• Word, Excel and Access

Essential skills

• Excellent keyboard skills
• Good standard of education
• Good written, verbal and numeracy skills
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Good team player
• Ability to multi task

Other requirements

• Commitment to the goals and values of Meningitis Trust.
• Some out of hours working, travel and attendance at appropriate events when required.

The working week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday, 9.00 am – 5.00 pm with one hour for lunch. Some weekend and evening work will be required from time to time for which compensatory time off will be given.
