Hours: 35 hours per week
Holidays: 25 days a year plus public holidays
Location: Fern House, Stroud, Gloucestershire with opportunity for flexible working
Special Conditions: Travel including some evening and weekend working
There are over 500,000 people in the UK today who have had meningitis. The post of Individual Giving and Events Manager is newly formed to lead the work of the individual giving and event teams and to develop an overall stewardship plan for individuals.
Through the management of this team it will focus on maximising income through supporters who give individually or raise funds through activities or annual fundraising initiatives and ensure the development of the donor journey as part of the overall MT contact strategy.

Job Purpose
To maximise income and support for Meningitis Trust through the management of a team of individual giving and event fundraisers. To further research, develop and manage high volume individual relationships and to be responsible for the strategic direction and development of individual giving and activity/product led fundraising.
Relationships
Internally, to work closely with the IG&E team and the Fundraising Management Team on the implementation and development of team plans, giving and receiving support on a day to day basis. To work closely with communications and community fundraising team on the development of products and with the partnerships team to develop and move on key relationships. There will also be regular contact with Services, Business Support and Finance teams. Where appropriate to liaise with Ambassadors and Patrons.
Externally to manage agency contracts and external consultants.
Duties and Responsibilities
Management
1. To line manage Individual Giving and Events Supervisors ensuring IPRs are held, objectives and standards are met, motivation is maintained and skills are developed to the mutual benefit of staff and the Trust.
2. To contribute to the development of MT five year fundraising strategy as a member of the Fundraising Management Team and produce annual Individual Giving and Events operational plans and budgets identifying investment opportunities and risks.
3. To manage the implementation and operational delivery of plans against agreed targets, monitoring, evaluating and reporting.
4. To provide regular income and expenditure reports to Fundraising Director.
5. To ensure all key supporters are provided with highest level of customer care.
Fundraising
6. Deliver annual income budget within agreed expenditure budget.
7. Deliver an effective programme of donor recruitment, development and stewardship.
8. Develop and deliver effective annual programmes of individual giving, legacy, event and annual fundraising activities.
9. To communicate MT work to donors and supporters via written proposals, phone and email providing regular feedback and reports to donors as appropriate.
10. To brief, recruit and manage external agencies in the delivery of fundraising campaigns and events.
11. To arrange and attend events against clearly defined objectives ensuring events are managed with particular regard to safety issues and participants welfare.
12. To liaise closely with Communications team regarding PR activities and the corporate team regarding sponsorship opportunities.
13. To liaise closely with Community Fundraising and Development teams and support community fundraising events and initiatives as appropriate.
14. Ensure the maintenance of RE records in line with data protection legislation.
15. To ensure timely processing of income.
16. To manage or contribute to specialist projects as requested.
Personal Specification
Essential experience
• Minimum of three years staff management
• Experience of strategic planning
• Experience of managing the development, delivery and monitoring of annual plans and budgets
• Minimum of three years experience and a proven track record in donor recruitment and development or the delivery of UK wide fundraising initiatives/events
• Experience of delivering exceptional donor care
• Experience of producing a range of effective communications
• Experience of research mechanisms and information management
• Experience of working on cross organizational projects.
Essential knowledge
• Thorough understanding of the principles of direct marketing and event fundraising
• Thorough understanding of charity law, policy and regulatory environment within which charities operate.
Essential skills
• Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with a diverse range of individuals who may be supporters, participants, donors or volunteers
• Strong, demonstrable negotiation skills
• Excellent organisation and prioritising skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite
• Demonstrable diplomacy and ability to work in confidence
• High degree of numeracy
• Demonstrable creativity
• Demonstrable time management skills and ability to work to multiple deadlines.

Salary: £28k- £34k per annum
Pension: A non-contributory pension – the Trust pays an additional 8% of salary directly into a Standard Life pension
Life Assurance: 4 times salary paid in the event of death whilst employed by Meningitis Trust
Holidays: 30 days a year plus public holidays
Permanent Health Insurance: After 3 years’ service, staff are eligible for this benefit
The working week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday, 9.00 am – 5.00 pm with one hour for lunch. Some weekend and evening work will be required from time to time for which compensatory time off will be given.
