Meningitis Trust

The National Kidney Federation is another charity very close to my heart and has been of great help in the past, before I contracted meningitis, due to a failed transplant and low immune system. I was diagnosed with kidney failure at the age of 5, long before my complications with meningitis.

I would like to announce the launching of the Young NKF, a part of the NKF aimed at younger people with kidney failure, it is vital that charities work together (or at least know of each other)
Currently the Young NKF is just a facebook page, but it will hopefully grow into something much bigger, nationwide for the increasing number of patients affected by kidney failure, who, more often or not are at risk of picking up infections, including Meningits, along the way.

The NKF runs in a similar way to the Meningitis trust, with a helpline, and plenty of information and support for those affected by kidney failure. It is made up of local groups (Kidney Patient Associations) supporting and representing patients from hospitals around the country.
