Hi
I had meningitis in 2001 when I was 20 and I am not sure how to find out what type I had.
Would I contact the hospital?
Also, I just want some support about this. I was given no information about my condition when I was in hospital or about any support organisations like this one. At the time, I had no idea there could even be after affects. I feel shocked to learn this now. There is so much that makes sense now and there is so much I could have done had I known there were after effects.
I feel like I've been living in a cloud the last 10 years (I turned 30 last year so I've just come up to my 10 year anniversary of having meningitis).
I am about to have a scholastic exam on Monday and I just don't feel like I can do it.
Has anyone here had meningitis and then gone on to pass exams?
I feel dumb asking - I imagine there must be people who have done this.
Thanks for reading

RE: What type of Meningitis did I have in 2001?
Hi
I would suggest asking your GP to find out the type of meningitis you have had. Your GP should have a hospital discharge letter, which may give this information.
We are sorry to hear that you have had no support and are finding things difficult at the moment. We are here to help and I will send you a private message.
Has anyone else had a similar experience they would like to share?

Thank you Claire
This is helpful advice. I feel relieved seeing your response because it means I might be able to find out.
