The Great Scottish Run and Junior Run

6 September 2009

Photo of Great Scottish RunnerThe Great Scottish Run, now in its 28th year, has become one of Scotland's showpiece sporting events, with elite athletes from all over the world running the 10k and half marathon routes alongside beginners and funrunners. The event takes place on Sunday 6th September and is a very inclusive event - anyone of any ability can take part. Participants choose between the half marathon or 10k and the race takes runners past some of Glasgow's most famous attractions, and features the hugely popular run over the Kingston Bridge, before finishing in Glasgow Green.

NEW to the 2009 event is the addition of three team challenges, namely:
• Corporate challenge
• Family challenge
• Scottish Athletics team challenge

Teams consist of a minimum of four entrants in one race distance (i.e. 10k, half marathon) but here is no maximum number of entrants per team. Winners will be calculated on the basis of the finishing positions of your top four runners.

For runners between the age of 9 and 17 the Junior Great Scottish Run takes place on Saturday 5th September – runners entering this event have the choice of running 1.5km or 3km.
