Meningitis Trust and FOCUS DIY win charity partnership award

15 September 2009

The UK’s longest established meningitis charity, the Meningitis Trust, is celebrating after winning Corporate National Partnership of the Year at the Charity Times awards in London, for its partnership with FOCUS DIY.

Since the beginning of the partnership Focus staff have raised more than £1.25 million through fundraising, pin-badge campaigns and generous company donations.

The partnership between Focus DIY and the Meningitis Trust has always taken great pride in its strength and subsequent success. The partnership has even enabled the Trust to improve its overall fundraising target. The key principals to this success have been good planning, communication and reporting; both organisations have willingly shared this responsibility.

Every year, stores organise a themed ‘Fun Day’ with a variety of fundraising activities, enjoyed by Focus staff and customers in their local communities. The 2009 Fun Day will have a stage and screen theme and take place over the weekend of September 26 – 27 - visit www.focusdiy.co.uk to find your nearest store.

Catherine Ind, Director of Fundraising and Development at the Meningitis Trust, says: “We are so pleased to have our partnership with Focus recognised at national level – it’s such a fantastic honour. From day one of the partnership - back in the 1980’s - the one thing that Focus has proven is that all its staff have shown a real and unwavering commitment to the Trust.”
