After two years of development, clinical guidelines - produced by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) – have been published for the management of bacterial meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia in children and young people under 16 in primary and secondary care.

With National Men’s Health Week fast approaching (June 14 - 20), the Meningitis Trust is encouraging men to learn the signs and symptoms of meningitis and to be aware of its range of free professional support services available to them.

Young Bournemouth musician Adam Tuffrey will be using his talents to benefit charity next month by hosting a music, dance and comedy spectacular in Bournemouth on June 3. The ‘Music 4 Life’ event, in aid of the Meningitis Trust, will be the third concert that Adam has organised since 2008 and he hopes it will be the biggest and best yet.

Developed with and supported by 30 patient support groups and charities the Network for Patients Joint Manifesto attempts to ensure the voices of patients and carers are at the “heart of the debate” on the future of health and social care during the general election. Under the theme of Trust, the three point manifesto demands clarity from politicians, transparency from the NHS and support from GPs in accessing help from groups like ours.

Oakhurst Community Primary School is hosting a Meningitis Awareness Day on Monday March 29 to raise money for the Meningitis Trust. Children at the school will be dressing up as ducks, releasing balloons, and taking part in duck-themed activities to reflect the charity’s mascot, Monty the Duck.
