There are several vaccines available to babies and toddlers in the UK, to help protect against some types of meningitis. However, there isn’t a vaccine to protect against all strains.
If you think someone has meningitis or septicaemia, get medical help immediately. Trust your instincts. You know your child best. Describe the symptoms and say you think it could be meningitis or septicaemia.
Early diagnosis can be difficult. If you have had advice and are still worried, get medical help again.
