Where: Location of your choice

Organise your own Coffee Break at home, at work or at your local community group. Every penny raised can help make a big difference to those individuals and families in Scotland affected by meningitis. Edinburgh Half Marathon logoThe Sir Chris Hoy Edinburgh Half Marathon

When: Sunday 18 April
Where: Edinburgh

The half marathon starts at 9am. The route for this event takes in the picturesque Firth of Forth coastline, with a grandstand finish at Musselburgh racecourse. We will provide you with training and dietary advice, fundraising advice and a T-shirt or running vest for the event.

The Mighty Deerstalker Event bannerThe Mighty Deerstalker

When: Saturday 20 March 2010
Where: Traquair House, Innerleithen, The Borders
Distance: 5km or 10km

A challenging but fun race which involves off-road terrain, steep gradients and exciting obstacles. The routes will take you along forest trails, through water crossings and over obstacles. Participants can take part individually or as a team of three (team members are not obliged to stick together). The event ends with a party in the grounds of Traquair House. In return for a pledge from you to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship, we’ll provide you with a T-shirt or running vest and sponsorship forms and advice.

BUPA Great Edinburgh Runcastle and runner

When: Sunday 2 May 2010
Where: Central Edinburgh, start on Melville Drive
Distance: 10km

This event takes you past the sights of one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, including Edinburgh Castle, The Scott Monument, The Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace. If you would prefer to take part in a team, why not enter the business challenge and compete with colleagues in this fun and exciting challenge? Glasgow Women's 10k
The Mighty Deerstalker Event banner

When: Sunday 9 May 2010
Where: Bellahouston Park, Glasgow

This is one of the biggest events on the Scottish running calendar and, as such, is definitely one to experience. The event starts just near Bellahouston Park, with mass aerobic warm-up to get everyone ready and raring to go - then it’s off on the 10km course, passing some of the best sights in the centre of Glasgow. The Edinburgh Marathon 2010

Edinburgh Marathon

When: Sunday 23 May 2010
Where: Starting in central Edinburgh, finishing at Musselburgh racecourse
What: 26.2 miles passing many of the famous Edinburgh landmarks, and out along the beautiful East Lothian coastline

Simon Dawson, Edinburgh Marathon 2009 participant, says: "The day itself was amazing, with clear blue skies as far as the eye could see and a slight early morning cool breeze. The crowds were out in there thousands around the start area and the atmosphere was electric. The announcer on the PA system kept everyone entertained with the usual countdown to start with until the moment of waiting arrived, bang, we were off…"

Baker Hughes 10k runnersThe Baker Hughes Aberdeen 10k

When: Sunday 23 May 2010
Where: Aberdeen

This event encompasses both a 10k event and a family fun run of 750km. The course is based around Aberdeen’s beach and harbour area, giving spectacular views of the North sea. All participants will receive training and dietary advice and a T-shirt or running vest for the event.

Walk and Run for Scotland runnersWalk & Run for Scotland

When: Sunday 6 June 2010
Where: Holyrood Park, Edinburgh

Walk for Scotland is a walking event suitable for all abilities. You can choose to complete a 12, 6.7 or 1 mile (golden mile) course. All events start at 11am at Holyrood Park. The Golden Mile event is designed to be suitable for everyone, no matter what your ability is. It is also suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs.
Run for Scotland takes part on the same day but starts at 9.30am – the event is a 5km fun run around the park.
For both events we will provide you with an information pack and T-shirt.

Men's Health Forum BannerMen’s Health Forum Scotland – Men’s 10k, Glasgow

When: Sunday 20 June 2010
Where: Glasgow. Starts and finished at Bellahouston Park
Distance: 10km

Entries are now open for the Men’s 10k. If you would like to run for the Meningitis Trust, all we ask is that you pledge to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship. In return, we will provide you with a running vest or T-shirt, training and dietary advice and our full support all the way. Please visit www.mhfs.org.uk/mhfs for more details and online entry. Great Scottish Run startGreat Scottish Run

When: Sunday 5 September
Where: Glasgow

This year’s event is being sponsored by the Bank of Scotland. It’s one of the most popular events on the Scottish running calendar, attracting over 20,000 runners of all abilities each year. The event always starts with a mass aerobics session to get everyone warmed up and the atmosphere this creates really gets you off to a flying start. We are looking for runners to raise a minimum of £50 each, with the aim of raising a total of £1,800 from this event – every penny you raise will help us to reach this target. As with our other events, we will provide you with training and dietary advice, fundraising advice and a T-shirt or running vest for this event. Why not sign up today and be part of a really special event whilst raising funds to support those families in Scotland who have been affected by meningitis.

Feeling brave? Why not take part in the ultimate challenge and skydive for the Meningitis Trust.

You can jump for free if you raise a minimum amount of sponsorship. There are a variety of venues across the UK where you can jump and it is available all year round.

Spelling Bee

This year, the Meningitis Trust is launching a sponsored spelling bee campaign aimed at primary schools. The three main aims of this idea are:

1) To offer a fun way for children to improve their literacy skills
2) To raise awareness of the affect meningitis can have on hearing and speech development in children
3) To raise funds for the Meningitis Trust in Scotland, so we can continue to support those families whose lives have been affected by the disease

All participating schools will be provided with a full resource pack including suggested word sheets and practice exercises and for the pupils: participant stickers, runners up certificate and a winner’s certificate.
