Our confidential nurse-led helpline is available to anyone who is looking for information or support around the subjects of meningitis, meningococcal septicaemia and the after-effects. Calls are answered 24hr day by nurses or our experienced support staff.

We cannot diagnose or give medical advice. If you suspect someone has meningitis or septicaemia get medical help immediately. You can call NHS Direct/NHS 24 or your GP, go to your nearest accident and emergency department or dial 999 for an ambulance
We are full members of The Helpline's Association
and adhere to their good practice standards for helplines.
Calls from landlines in all parts of the UK are free. Calls from Orange, T-Mobile, Virgin, Three and Vodafone mobile networks are free. Other mobile networks may charge.
Calls can be translated into 170 languages using the language line service. The Text Relay service allows hearing impaired clients to call our helpline. We also have an email facility.

Meningitis changed Portia Hampton’s life forever as she has been left with after-effects including hearing loss and low confidence, her daughter Carys is her inspiration. Portia says:
