“….and the WCVA Volunteer of the Year goes to ….”

(drum roll please)

Nicola Price from Monmouthshire

It with great pleasure that I can announce that volunteer/supporter/mother extraordinaire Nicola Price has won the most prestigious volunteering award in Wales for 2012.

We nominated Nicola for the WCVA Volunteer of the Year back in March because of all the amazing work she does for us as a volunteer and for being an all round amazing supporter of our work.  We always knew that Nicky deserved recognition for all she does for the Trust – and the Wales Council for Voluntary Action now agrees with us!

P1040823.JPGWe’re ever so thankful to Nicky for everything she has done for the Trust in recent years.  Many of you will already know Nicky as our Volunteers Team Leader, and for being present at most of the events that the Trust holds in South Wales.

But Nicola also speaks to Mother and Toddler groups for us, attends cheque presentations, will be interviewed by the media at a moment’s notice and will be speaking at our Christmas Concert this year in Llandaff Cathedral, to name but a few.  She is always telling people about her and her son Brogan’s experience of meningitis, in the hope that she is able to stop it from happening to anyone else in the future.  To see Nicky and Brogan's story and why Nicky supports us – read her story.

So Nicky – a huge congratulations from everyone at the Meningitis Trust and  for being the most deserving of winners.  We’re so grateful to you for everything you have already done for us in the past, and for all the things that I know that you have up your sleeve for the future.
