Meningitis Trust

Hi I’m Morven,

My reason for being a young ambassador is to raise awareness about Meningitis offer support and raise much needed funds , also to help the trust offer help and support to other families in need after being affected by Meningitis.

This is my story. 

In October 2007 my life changed forever after my cousin Calum passed away after contracting bacterial Meningitis.  Calum was only 12 years old when he died.  

I was very close to Calum as there was only 9 months between us.  I grew up with Calum being more like my brother. We spent a lot of time together and shared many special moments. Calum would make me laugh, he was a very special person.  He loved life and and loved to be surrounded by people.  

Calum had a way of hugging if Calum gave you a hug, it was if a massive bear was hugging you making you feel safe.   He was so kind and loving and would give or do anything for anyone.Calum was growing to be typical teenage boy loving music, computer games, reading and being out with his friends.  

This is why so many of us miss him. He was the person who organised the weekends making arrangements of where we would go and what we would do.I miss him being part of my life now and feel closer to him by becoming involved with the trust and helping others as Calum would want me to.

The Trust has given me so much support in helping me cope with my loss. It’s important that I enable them to continue providing the wide range of services to others as I know how much it is needed, as well as how much it means to have this lifeline.
