Every six hours a child will have to fight for their life when bacterial meningitis strikes. And many parents have to watch them, feeling powerless.
Children are left with an uncertain future. Some are left with severe brain damage, hearing and sight loss, and where septicaemia (blood poisoning) has struck, limb loss and scarring. But for many others, the impact is not so obvious.
It is not right that these children now have another battle – to get the impact of meningitis, which is often not visible, recognised and the educational support they need put in place.
These children deserve the best chance possible of reaching their full potential, whatever that is.
The change we are fighting for:
The automatic right for any child who has had meningitis to have timely and appropriate assessments throughout their academic life, to identify early what help they need and ensure they get it.
Every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential. You can help us make change happen for children who are suffering right now.
By pledging your support you will be giving hope to children across the UK who have already faced many battles in their young lives.
Don’t let fighting for the right to access appropriate educational support be one of them.
Below is Alex's description of his time at school, please read it and support our campaign.
More than 5.3 million adults in the UK can't name a single meningitis sign or symptom. Make sure you're not one of them.

We need your help to spread the word and get 10,000 signatures on our petition.
