Resources for teachers and children
Recognising that children and teenagers are at most risk of contracting meningitis, we have developed a number of resources for youngsters, teachers, parents and child carers.

Our Teachers Handbook, ‘Education For All’ has been put together to help answer questions and concerns if a case of meningitis or meningococcal septicaemia happens in the school environment. Written with all ages in mind from the youngest to the oldest pupil, including staff, this handbook will help to give you information on the signs and symptoms of the illness. What to do if there is a case in your school/college. How and where to get help and support, plus covering the type of questions that may occur from concerned pupils, staff and parents.
The handbook also gives information on how your school might like to support the work of the Meningitis Trust and will give you contact with one of the local Community Development Officers.

“Understanding Meningitis - a guide for early years practitioners” is a free information pack. It provides practical guidance on what to do if there is a case of meningitis in an early years setting. It also contains information about signs and symptoms, treatment with antibiotics and prevention with vaccines.
